The desktop... or... not the thing where you knock over your pens!

Confronted by a screen asking for your username and password... then another with odd looking icons... Aaaaargh!!! Here are a few pointers about getting started - sending messages, replying, seeing if you've got messages waiting to be read etc etc. Good luck!!

Once you've logged into FirstClass, you'll have a desktop which looks something like this:

Desktop on servers 1, 2 or 3 image Desktop link Mailbox link News link Help link

There's a navigation frame down the left hand side to help you find your way around FirstClass more easily. If you're unsure what anything does, then just hold your mouse over it, and a screen tip will appear, telling you what's what!

Now toddle off to the navigation section if you'd like to find out how to get around the desktop...

Down the left hand side you can see a series of labels saying "Welcome", "Desktop", "Mailbox" etc... This is a quickie run down of what they all do! Well, apart from "Welcome" which just takes you to http://firstclass.open.ac.uk and isn't massively helpful in navigating FirstClass!! :o)

Desktop button
Desktop: No matter where you are in FirstClass, clicking this will take you straight back to your main desktop
Mailbox button
