Sending a message using FirstClass is pretty much the same as an ordinary e-mail system... if you want to send a message to a conference, simply click on the "New Message" icon when you're in that conference... and start typing... If you want to send other sorts of messages follow these instructions!
Sending a message to an individual: If the recipient is within FirstClass and on the same server
1. Fill
in a subject line, press return
2. Click in the "To" box
3. Type in the recipient's name
4. Press return
5. Type your message
6. Click on the "send" buton - first small icon from the left,
underneath the menu bar
Sending a message to an individual: If the recipient is within FirstClass but on a different server
As above
but...
Type in the
recipient's e-mail address in the following format:
username,oufcnt{number
of server}.open.ac.uk
For example... if you're on Server 6 and wanted to send a message to me on Server 2 you would type in: Sarah Fullard,oufcnt2.open.ac.uk
Sending a message to an "outside" e-mail address:
As above but...
3. Type in the recipient's e-mail address... making sure that it is spelled correctly!
