Useful HTML sites... or... getting fancy wid it!

There are loads of useful and interesting HTML-dedicated web sites out there... and the majority have got lots of lovely free stuff for you to get your mucky paws on! If it's an HTML cleaner-upper you're after... or something that'll create forms 'n' stuff for you... here's the place to find those links!

  HTML code "cleaners" and checkers
HTML Tidy Want to make smaller HTML files? Want 'em to load quicker? This little utility can help you do just that by getting rid of the bits of extra HTML that some editing packages put it! It's even got an option for dealing with the notorious Word!!
Office 2000 HTML Filter 2.0 One of the biggest complaints about using Microsoft Word as an HTML editor is that it puts in loads of extra gubbins into the code... well... use this free download to strip out all that unwanted stuff.
Top HTML Shrinker Another little bit of free software (it's actually "linkware" - you have to display a teeny weeny button to say you've used it) to squish down the size of your HTML files. It gets rid of extra spaces and lines without altering the way your web page looks. Very handy!
Xenu's Link Sleuth Want to check that all those sites you spent ages linking to are still there - and can't be bothered to trawl through checking yourself? Let the excellent... and free Xenu do the hard work for you. Easy to use - and teeny weeny! ACE!
HTML Validator To make your HTML as compatible as possible, why not get it validated? Be warned though... it can take a-a-a-ages to sort out all of your HTML once it's been validated but for accessibility purposes it's worth doing. There's another validator at the W3C site, which you might also want to toddle over to!
CSE HTML Validator-Lite A very useful little free tool if you're wanting to validate your HTML - it finds the invalid bits of HTML, tells you whats wrong with them, and highlights them so they're easy to correct. Very handy!
