| Browsers... or... honestly... do I really need to explain THAT?!?!! | |||
|
You might be viewing this with Internet Explorer, maybe Netscape... perhaps even Opera - who knows? That's the point, you don't know when you're designing web pages, so it's always best to check the way your page looks using several different browsers! You'd be surprised how different things can look if you're using a different browser to view 'em! |

| Browser... | Need it? | ||
| Internet
Explorer 6
|
The latest browser from Microsoft - a good easy to use browser which comes with Outlook Express as it's e-mail package. As with most browsers, it's free! If you want to view web pages designed using Microsoft Word or FrontPage accurately, then having Internet Explorer is (unfortunately I would say) a must.
| Lynx Viewer | Not the Lynx browser itself, but a site that shows you what your page would look like in a "text-only" browser. Be prepared for some interesting effects! This is a really good test to see if your site is accessible to people who are visually impaired. I've seen a number of sites that talk about an interest in disabilities and then can't be interpreted by a text reader!! Check your site here!! | ||
| Bet you've never heard of this one! NetCaptor is based on IE and is available in two versions - one free and one with "extra features for a price". The nice thing about NetCaptor is the way it allows you to browse in separate windows in the SAME browser - and gives you that nice 'n' familiar IE interface. This could be the one for you! | |||
| Netscape 7 | Available on the OU's Online Applications CD... not sure what I make of it, certainly displays Microsoft generated pages better than its predecessors, but... hmmmmm... Jury's out! Netscape Composer is a useful addition to have though and that's included, so get a copy and see what you think! | ||

Netscape
Navigator 4.7 |
Lots of people are still using Navigator in its version 4 incarnation, and this is the one where you'll find a lot of Microsoft generated HTML goes belly up! It's a good idea to get a copy, for testing purposes if nothing else.
| Opera 7 | THE minority browser! It's now in version 7 and available for free. The free version has an ad banner running, and anyone upgrading from a previously registered version gets away with no banner! I really like it, and if you're running an operating system other than Windows - Linux, BeOS, EPOC for example - then Opera might be just the browser you're looking for! Small an' quick - take a look!! | ||
