Multimedia... or... how to play games, listen to the radio etc on the Net!

You often come across sites that require "Plug-ins"... Real Player, Media Player, Flash Player etc are the most common! They let you view the sites that are all singing and all dancing... the ones with lots of animated sequences, video clips and you can even have the radio playing across the Internet in the background - if you've got the right plug-in. Get 'em here!! Oh... I forgot... they're free!!

Software... Why do I need it?
  Real Player 8 Basic

Great for audio and video stuff on the Net! With this free bit of kit you can listen to radio across the Internet, watch video etc etc! If you've money to burn and want to pay a bit for it, go for the Real Player 8 Plus - most people manage just fine with the free Basic version though!!!
Windows Media Player 7.1 From dear old Microsoft :o) this is their multimedia player - you can use it as a jukebox, to play video clips, bits of music - and as usual (for my recommendations not for Microsoft) - it's free!
QuickTime 5 Some web sites need you to have QuickTime installed on your puter so you can see animations 'n' stuff. The T171 and TU170 web sites do, for example! You can view all kinds of multimedia files using QuickTime, not just stuff on the Net!
  Macromedia Flash Player 5

Macromedia's Flash Player is another program that'll let you view nifty stuff on the Web. You'll often see "View Flash site" or "View non-Flash site" on web sites... this is the bit of software that'll allow you to view all the animations and fancy graphics bits on the "Flash site"!!!
